Drop In Planting System DIPS for a Quick & Easy Gardening!

What Is Dips System And How It Works

  • Plant at your convenience, sitting or standing, rather than bending or squatting uncomfortably.
  • Save money, as fewer materials will be needed year after year (soil, mulch, fabric, etc.)
  • Less time and manual labour spent in the garden with irritating bugs and mosquitoes.
  • Conserve water. Less water is needed and less time spent watering.
  • Applies to flower gardens and vegetable gardens. Use in residential and commercial landscapes
  • Prevents over-watering and protects from disease.
  • Easy drop-in and removal of plantings.
  • Immediately transport plants indoors to protect them from inclement weather.
  • Plant spectacular warm climate species in the summer months. (palms, ficus, cactus, etc.)
  • When warm weather fizzles away, bring your subtropical plants indoors to reap the many benefits of house plants all winter long.
  • Change the style and look of your landscape in minutes. Coordinate for the holidays and special occasions.
  • Eliminate the clutter of potted plants on steps and walkways.
  • Ability to manoeuvre plants for their care requirements. (shade, sun, soil, etc.)
  • Start your garden sooner by planting indoors and moving outdoors after the last frost.
  • Lock-down top securely fastens landscape fabric to completely prevent weeds.
  • Keeps water away from the foundation. (by concentrating water directly within root area)
  • Allows for proper plant and root growth, as plant roots can descend from the base of the planter.
  • DIPS is educational for kids. Makes gardening fun for the whole family.
  • Enables the ability to plant in unfavourable soil. (drier, sandier and low nutrient conditions)
  • Keeps the real in-ground natural garden look.

How to use DIPS?

Step 1. Prepare a hole in your garden to accommodate the outer planter.

Step 2. With the lip of the outer container level slightly above the ground and the tabs folded outward, backfill your soil around the outer planter. Include some soil along the bottom, inside the container as well, to increase support to outer walls.

(Step 3 & 4 are optional if you are using landscape cloth.)

Step 3. Lay out your landscape fabric or weed barrier and cut an “X” over the planters from one edge of the container to the other.

Step 4. Snap the lock-down lid in place on the outer planter and secure with easy push pins.

Step 5. On a tabletop or workstation, anywhere you’d like, prepare your inner planter. Plant what you desire in that inner planter.

Step 6. Drop your finished inner planter into the garden and complete by covering around plant with mulch, soil, stone, or other desired material.
